C&D v Cheshunt IBC - Match Report.
On Sunday 14th February, The Association played a friendly game against Cheshunt IBC. After the first few ends things were looking up with the Association being a few shots in front. However as the game progressed Cheshunt rose to the occasion and began to pull away. The final outcome was C&D 106 and Cheshunt 127. It was three rinks each but unfortunately our losing rinks made sure they went down admirably. We did have a highest winning rink who finished several shots to the good, so Dennis Sheldrake, Frank Tew, John Fitzgerald and Keith Lodge received congratulations and a President's Glass.
The highest losing rink became members of the "MUST DO IT BETTER CLUB". More information on how to become a member of this exclusive band of bowlers can be found on the Friendly Fixtures/Selection Page.
C&D v Wey Valley IBC - Match Report
On Wednesday 17th February, we played Wey Valley IBC. The players travelled by coach arriving at Wey Valley in time for lunch. There had been several changes due to drop outs and on the day we travelled one player short due to illness. Over the last few years Wey Valley has not been a successful venue for the association. We have in the past been beaten by a large margin. However, on Wednesday the tables were turned and the Association ran out comfortable winners by 160 shots to 145. Highest winning rink went to John Brand, Chris Middleton, John Fitzgerald and Gordon Richards. There were two losing rinks but each only lost by 4 shots. As they could not be separated all 8 players became members of the "Must Do It Better Club", although only losing by 4 shots is not too bad.
C&D v Jacks Centre - Match Report
On Sunday 21st 7 rinks of players travelled to Latchingdon to play our last indoor fixture of this indoor season. After 2 ends all was looking well with the Association being up 21-12. However there were another 19 ends on each rink and unfortunately we lost overall 125 to 148. A loss of 23 shots. We did win on 3 out of the 7 rinks, but the losing rinks lost by over 10 shots each. The highest winning rink on the day was Del Ringwood, Gordon Hillyear, John Fitzgerald (AGAIN!!!!!) and Alfie Burton. They won by 26-9. The lowest rink, who all join that famous club, were Brian Lee, George Porter, Del Deacon and Terry Little. It was a good match played in the proper spirit and enjoyed by all.
Next game will be outdoors in May, so lets hope we do better on the grass.
