Chelmsford and District Bowling Association

President of the Association   2010

Ian Muir (Falcon Bowls Club)

President's Address

It's an honour and privilege to be elected as President of the Chelmsford and District Bowling Association for 2010,and I would like to thank all who have supported me through my Junior and Senior Deputy years.

Like many of you I have been a staunch supporter of the Association since taking up bowls in 1985 at the now defunct Marconi Bowls Club. I remember my first game for the Association, stepping on to the green to lead on a rink as the new boy and was as nervous as could be, little did I think that 25 years later I would be President, following in the footsteps of many very memorable names.

Times have changed since then, and a number of Associations have disappeared from the scene. I would like to think that we will weather the storm and with all your support be able to continue and develop our long standing existence which has continued since 1945.

I would like to thank my own club, Falcon for their support and for accommodating the Chelmsford and District fixtures for 2010.

I would ask that you all endeavour to promote the Association within your own clubs and encourage your members to take part in the games and to also enter the annual competitions, making each a truly competitive event.

It would be admirable if each of the clubs in the Association were able to enter at least one team in the Annual Triples Tournament, so keep that in mind and watch out for information regarding entry.

I would also encourage any member who would consider standing for Office in the Association to come forward and ensure there is a wide representation of the member clubs.

The Annual Tour will this year be based in Norwich, not far to travel, but with the prospect of some excellent bowling against our Norfolk counterparts.

Finally, I wish everyone a successful and enjoyable bowling season, get out there and win. I look forward to meeting you on and off the green.
