Participants in the 23rd C&D Invitation Triples

23rd Annual Triples Tournament

The Chelmsford and District Bowling Association held the 23rd Annual Invitation Triples tournament on Saturday 4th July, the event being hosted by the Falcon Bowls Club.

12 teams were entered representing the C&D BA affiliated clubs and other local associations. It was an enjoyable if exhausting day's competition, with all teams playing 7 games of 7 ends, the equivalent of two and a third normal matches. The green was in excellent condition and the weather was very hot. A very good standard of play was seen throughout the day.

Positions changed frequently in the league table as rounds progressed but at the finish two teams representing Falcon BC filled the first two places. The winning team were Alan Smith, Brian Goodman and Barrie Crowe. The runners up losing out by one point were Greg Moss, John Drewe and Mark Morhall. The president's team finished only one point further back. Trophies were presented by the President, Bill Wright. He recorded his gratitude to the host club for the facilities provided and the excellent playing surface prepared.
